Abstract

The article is an attempt to prove that the “war against terrorism”, or strictly speaking its global aspect, is de facto a “war” against the globalization process. The lack of actions to eliminate terrorism is as wearisome as the “war” against it. First of all, as globalization accelerates terrorism as its own counterbalance, effective actions initiated against it are correspondingly actions undertaken against globalization. Second of all, following this line of thought, a victorious “war against terrorism” hails one thing - self-destruction. Doubts arise not only in the field of the practical consequences of leading a “war against global terrorism” or the theoretical meaning of the phrase, but also as to whether it is possible to lead a war against this - or any other - phenomenon. Nonetheless the “war against terrorism” is not only a war against terrorism, but a war against the values we share and the issues we believe in. While violating the laws of others in the name of liberal values we cannot expect these values to become universally defended ones. This way we are all taking part in the great “theatre of violence”.
