All the attention of the author in the text The Participation of Bishops in the Process of Destruction of the Pagan Temples in the East of the Empire in the late Roman Empire (IV-V centuries) focuses on the presentation of the bishops participation in the destruction of pagan temples throughout the Roman Empire in the fourth and fifth centuries. This testing relates to the eastern part of the empire only. In this respect, the author analyzes the historical, legal and literary sources. Without doubt, the bishops (George, Mark, Eleuzjos, Titus, Marcel, Theophilus, Porphyry, John Chrysostom) played a significant role in the destruction of pagan temples in the East, sometimes even taking the initiative in this action, but there is no evidence that at this time they took over the function of the civil power, even at the local level. It can be assumed that the tolerance policy for the pagans was very important, but only if they do not infringe law and public order.
