Abstract

Philosophers and historians try to find the sources of our culture. Sometimes, especially today it’s hard to separate historical investigations and philosophical ones. Sometimes philosophical speculations are part of historical inquiry. Some of opinions of Italian mathematician and author of Forgotten Revolution, Lucio Russo, are good example of creative synthesis of history and philosophy of history. Hellenism, in his opinion, as a turning point in our history, delivers the criterions to understand the whole historical process. Abandoned trophies of this epoch, leads Russo to accept pessimistic view of history of mankind and to reject idea of progress.
