On chosen links between philosophy and sociology

Józef Niżnik

Abstract

Sociology, like other various sciences, is rooted in philosophy. However, contrary to other branches of knowledge, sociology still derives some advantages from the philosophical inspirations, though this kind of inspiration does not necessarily have to be connected with the meaning of philosophical categories as the ones present in the works of philosophers. On the other hand, though, theoretical sociological perspective proves to be invaluable while attempting to describe and evaluate the status of philosophy nowadays.
