Abstract

A discussion of ontological interpretations of spacetimes in General Relativity in the context of structuralistic accounts is presented. I describe what I understand under the term “core-effectiveness”. I take core-effectiveness as the basis for evaluating structural, ontological positions. I state a thesis that the cores of some important positions are limited and I postulate a synthesis between the cores (or at least between some of their aspects). I elaborate four ontological spacetime structuralisms. Each is criticised in the context of its core-effectiveness. I sum up with suggesting some possibilities of carrying out the mentioned synthesis between the cores
