Abstract

This article presents an attempt to recall and discuss the article The Physiology o f Versification (1875) by a poet, novelist, literary critic, and physician Oliver Wendell Holmes, a representative figure of the American Renaissance in literature, and a prominent 19th century doctor whose work was almost forgotten, and only in the recent years it has begun to regain its rightful place on the map o f the 19th century history o f the USA.
