Abstrakt

In the article the author considers the content and ways of the development of philosophy of a language as methodological principles of its study. A Brief review of lingua-philosophical directions in the history of philosophy and linguistic is presented, scientific sources of modern lingua-philosophical studies are named as well.The author analyzes a peculiar feature of a language as a system of people’s world outlook. It finds expression in the ability of a language to accumulate the cultural and historical experience of ethno-cultural community. Possibility of studying a language in a philosophical aspect is conditioned, the author thinks, by the nature of a language itself that serves as a means of world cognition, storage of cultural heritage and a means of communication. As for philosophicness of a language as a means of people’s world outlook the author considers that the structure, matter and functions of a language is conditioned by dialectical laws of its social development, its role in the process of people’s world cognition. That is the methodological significance of philosophy of a language.
