Abstract

The goal of article is to present the problem of giving reasons for the scientific ethos. From the scientific point of view, one must acknowledge dualism of being and value. It makes impossible to give reasons for scientific ethos basing on the facts about world. In the second part of the article there are presented two solutions of the problem. The first solution is based on the difference between language and meta-language. The second one is based on the assertion that one cannot separate descriptive and non-descriptive aspects of any language.
