Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz as a Visionary of the Decline pf European Culture

Abstract

The views of S. I. Witkiewicz concerning the problems of contemporary culture ara presented in the paper. His theses connected wich the decline of our civilization ara compared with the manifestations of the present crisis of culture. His attempts to explain the above mentioned crisis, its sources and causes, are also described. His catastrophic visions of our future were analysed from the perspecłive of well-known cultural and civizational phenomena.
