Abstract

In the article I present the most important ideas of Trentowski’s theory of self (ego). Trentowski constructed his theory in polemic with those philosophers, who identified the self (ego) only with a soul. Contrary to the theories of Descartes, of Fichte and of Hegel Trentowski’s theory of the self is not so spekulative and contemplative, because the self is the unity – in – the difference, the unity of body and of soul, of sensuality, of spirytuality, of practical sens and of speculation. Preaching necessity of all – round development of all aspects of our personalites, Trentowski’s philosophical thought will be precursory before the postulates of contemporary study of the ego.
