Abstract

Douptless Musaeus belong to one of the most important figures in attic cult. He was not only the legendary founder of eleusynian cult, and its first hierofant, but in mythology, being connected with Orpheus he invented the art of healing and prophecy. As a son of Mnemosyne he was responsible for maintaining the old familial memory, which was crucial to understood aristocratic tradition. It seems that the deeper meaning of this figure up to now was rather misunderstood. This article try to show him like a hero probably much more important than his supposed teacher Orpheus on the groud of athenian cult.
