Abstract

Topos of Book belongs to the most deepseated motives in culture. Traditionally it is tied with holy books, The Medieval Book of Nature and modern encyclopedia. It takes a stand in philosophy, literature, myths, legends, religions and mass culture. It means source truth, full of sense, closure and exhaustion, in one word absolute knowledge (metaphysics). Contemporary version present it (Sade, Mallarme, Nietzsche, Schulz, Borges) as book-rhizome or uncontrollable, acentric, nonhierarchic open system (critique of metaphysics). Internet is modern part of it.
